Jacob Prasch of Moriel has some strong words for the anti-Israel brigade. This warning is directed at anyone who reads it and includes so-called men of God:

Christian Palestinianism and the anti-Israel Crusade

From Moriel Ministries:

The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: “Have you not observed that these people are saying, ‘The LORD has rejected the two clans that He chose’? Thus they have despised my people so that they are no longer a nation in their sight” (Jeremiah 33:23,24).

One man who has consistently despised the nation of Israel is Naim Stifan Ateek, a Palestinian Anglican clergyman from Beth She’an. In his Easter message in 2001, Ateek made the following statement:

“Here in Palestine Jesus is again walking the via dolorosa. Jesus is the powerless Palestinian humiliated at a checkpoint, the woman trying to get through to the hospital for treatment, the young man whose dignity is trampled … In this season of Lent, it seems to many of us that Jesus is on the cross again with thousands of crucified Palestinians around him. It only takes people of insight to see the hundreds of thousands of crosses throughout the land, Palestinian men, women, and children being crucified. Palestine has become one huge Golgotha. The Israeli government crucifixion system is operating daily. Palestine has become the place of the skull.”...keep reading

A Tale Of Two Incidents

Days ago in Egypt, throngs of Muslims (henceforth, “Islamists”), estimated at 3,000, fired guns and rifles and hurled Molotov cocktails at Coptic churches, homes, and businesses in the Imbaba region near Cairo: twelve Christians were killed—some shot by snipers atop rooftops—232 injured; three churches were set aflame to cries of “Allahu Akbar,” while Coptic homes were looted and torched...Muslim ‘Inferiority Complex’ Kills Christians

Egypt: Christian Girls Kidnapped and ‘Sold’

Fresh from FrontpageMag:

Two teenage Coptic girls, cousins, were recently kidnapped and then “sold” in Minya, Egypt—the same region where a Coptic church was recently attacked and desecrated. I tried to find this story in English-language media and, as expected, found nothing, except for one report in Al-Masry Al-Youm titled “Clashes between police and Coptic protesters in Minya”—as if that’s the important story (as usual, the media prefers headlines portraying harried Christian minorities as equally culpable as their Muslim persecutors, thereby justifying use of the preferred phrase, “sectarian strife“).

At the end of the Al-Masry Al-Youm report, we get a trailing sentence alluding to “claims” that two Christian girls “were abducted by Muslims and forced to convert to Islam” as the reason why Copts were demonstrating and clashing with the police in the first place...keep reading

Sabeel's (and Sizer's) Demonizing Liturgy

Below is a 2007 article from CAMERA which should be read by all. Sabeel describes itself as a Christian organization yet it is thoroughly steeped in pro-Palestinian liberation theology that uses revisionist history and anti-Israeli propaganda. Sabeel is also heavily endorsed by the crusading anti-Zionist (they're deadly) and Israeolophobic Stephen Sizer:

When Rev. Dr. Gary Burge, the man who turned God’s promise to Abraham into a cosmic “kick me” sign permanently affixed to the back of the Jewish people in his error-laden book, Whose Land? Whose Promise? appeared on Hank Hanegraff’s show in May 2007, he invoked an essay by Rev. Dr. Naim Ateek, founder of Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center as evidence that there are Palestinians opposed to acts of terror against Israel.

If you go on the web and you just simply were to Google an article by a Christian leader named Ateek A-T-E-E-K and he has an article published on the web [about] suicide bombers. Just type in Ateek and suicide bombers and there you will have a Christian leader, a Palestinian who actually comments on that kind of Muslim violence.

Readers who do as Rev. Dr. Burge suggests will find hundreds of links confirming that indeed, Rev. Dr. Ateek has condemned suicide bombings – in an essay written in English and using Christian theology.

While Rev. Dr. Ateek’s essay is often invoked before Christian audiences in the U.S. to demonstrate that indeed, Sabeel is a peacemaking organization, it is unlikely that Rev. Dr. Ateek’s essay contributed to the decline of suicide attacks that has taken place since 2004. Israel’s security barrier was built to stop attacks perpetrated by Arabic-speaking Muslims living in the West Bank or Gaza Strip, not English-speaking Presbyterians, Episcopalians or Congregationalists who are Rev. Dr. Ateek’s primary audience in the U.S. Still, for what it’s worth, different versions of Rev. Dr. Ateek’s essay are available here, here, and here. It is also appeared in the September/October 2003 issue of Church and Society, a defunct journal previously published by the Presbyterian Church (USA)...keep reading

Speaking of Sizer; Moriel's Jacob Prasch still has an open invitation to debate him:

Repeated Debate Challenge

Jacob Prasch wishes to repeat his challenge to publicly debate Anglican Stephen Sizer on Sizer's contentions that Zionism is apartheid and that the modern state of Israel does not fulfill biblical prophecy. As an Anglican in a church ordaining homosexual clergy and with a Druid Arch Bishop of Canterbury now calling for Britain to integrate elements of Islamic Sharia, anti Zionists like Sizer in a church with a pro Islamic hierarchical agenda must be challenged.

We are compelled by the evidence to regard Sizer as hypocritical and biblically ignorant and would relish the opportunity to demonstrate this in public debate before a video camera in a properly moderated format.

It is also difficult for us not to additionally suspect Sizer of being a pseudo-academic fraud, but he at least deserves the opportunity to demonstrate otherwise in a public forum.

In view of the widespread persecution of Arab, Persian, Asian, and African Christians throughout the Moslem world it is nothing short of ludicrous that Sizer continually targets Israel as the perpetrator of injustice when Israel is the solitary country in The Middle East assuring the rights and security of its Christian population.

Our expectation is that Sizer will continue to run as usual. This however simply serves to underscore the indefensible implausibility of his pseudo-scholarly and pseudo-biblical antics.

Apparently Rev. Sizer is currently too busy worrying about Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's recent treatment of the hapless President Obama, and all those TV interview trips to Indonesia and Malaysia to discuss those naughty Jews takes up a lot of his valuable time.

Sizer appears to be ignorant of the fact that the above countries are notorious for their selective tolerance towards Christians. I can vouch that I've met (and worked for) Christians who migrated to Australia to escape the intolerance of the dominant Muslim Indonesia and Malaysia.

Perhaps Sizer can discuss this with them during any forthcoming trips.

International Israeli Outreach

From Ariel Ministries:

During the mid-1980's, the Lord's love for the Israeli people and the land was birthed in my heart whilst living in Israel. In the early 1990's, I traveled and worked with Israelis in the Far East who were on a “time-out” after completing their national army service. In 1993, while having morning coffee with Israeli friends on an island in Thailand, I asked them what their plans were for the day. Each one told me that he or she was going off to a Buddhist course, a Hindu meditation or new age course run on the island. My heart filled with sorrow, and I felt real pain for them. I heard the clear spoken words by my own voice saying, “Of all the people who should know their Messiah, first of all it's the Israelis.” From that day, the seed for the vision that became the Gefen International Israeli Outreach was planted, and later I realized that this perfectly fitted with Romans 1:16, the gospel to the Jewish people first. So the God-given love came first and then the burden came, but it was not time to reach them internationally. I first needed time to be better prepared myself. Later in 1993, I came back to Israel to share with local believers concerning my experiences. From that time, I have had involvement with the same Hebrew speaking congregation. Through the following few years of “the Israel learning curve and service”, I received the endorsement of various leaders in Israel and was then sent with their blessing to raise up Gefen's International Israeli Outreach ministry...keep reading

Occupied lands?

What's the real story behind the so-called "occupied territories". Are "Christian Zionists" really helping Israel to steal Palestinian land as pundits like Stephen Sizer suggest?

This is an important session offered by Jan Markell's Olive Tree Ministries:

June 4, 2011 - Hour 2 Our guest host is Dr. Randy White, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Katy, TX. White interviews Sondra Baras of Christian Friends of Israeli Communities. Sondra is a resident of Biblical Samaria. Living in the land of the Patriarchs, Sondra is an Orthodox Jew who strongly believes that the West Bank is land given by God to Israel. This broadcast will make you aware of the settlement movement among Jews, who the settlers are, and how Christians can bless the Jewish settlers of the land of Israel. Go here to find Dr. White's book on the Antichrist. We highly recommend it. -- http://www.fbckaty.com/

Egyptian Crisis

Here are some links that discuss the current Egyptian crisis:

Events in Egypt are unfolding quickly. Just yesterday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak announced that he won't seek re-election but will stay in office for the next few months and today, the street demonstrations have become more violent as pro-Mubarak demonstrators have joined the fray; the U.S. administration, for the first time, has stated that it supports a role for Islamic groups like the Muslim Brotherhood in an Egyptian government, if they reject violence and recognize democratic goals. Other Arab leaders are scrambling to prevent in their own countries what is happening in Egypt: Jordan's King Abdullah dissolved his government and appointed a new one, charging it with bringing about "effective, tangible and real political reform." And the Palestinian Authority is blocking Palestinians from holding protests in solidarity with the Egyptian uprising, while announcing that local elections will be held as soon as possible. In Syria too, citizens have called for a day of protest on February 5th. Below is a round-up of some of the commentary on the crisis and analysis of how the seismic developments may affect Israel...keep reading

Obsessing Over Israel

An example of the media one-sided biased reporting. This article from CAMERA:

Refugees and economic migrants fleeing Eritrea, the Sudan and elsewhere in Africa often make their way to the Middle East, and though they leave home in search of safety or opportunity, their new countries, including Libya, Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia, often bring new challenges. There is certainly a story to tell about challenges faced by asylum seekers in Israel, and it is legitimate for news organizations — especially Israeli and Jewish media outlets, which are innately affiliated with the country — to take note. But the story that screams for serious attention is the inhumane treatment of migrants at the hands of Egyptians.

In Israel, some refugees and migrant workers have complained of feeling unwelcome. With tens of thousands of Africans sneaking into the country in recent years, concerns are increasingly being voiced about the country’s ability to absorb them, and emotional debate has erupted about how to handle the situation. Israel has occasionally turned away groups of migrants who cross the border from Egypt’s Sinai peninsula, and recently facilitated the repatriation of 150 Sudanese who chose to return home. It is in the process of building a controversial detention center to house those who continue to stream across the border...Obsessing Over Israel, NPR Glosses Over Plight of African Migrants

Israel's Three Must's and Jehovah's Seven I-Will's

This is a small tract written by David L Cooper:

My reason for running in the Biblical Research Monthly the department of "Israel's Place in the Plan of God" is that a clear grasp of this doctrine is essential to the proper understanding of the teaching of the Scriptures in general; for apart from it one cannot comprehend the significance of numerous passages in both the Old Testament and the New. As we see from a casual reading of the original promise (Gen. 12:1-3), which is the basis of all prophecy, and the predictions immediately growing out of it recorded in Genesis, Abraham and his seed were chosen to be the channel of world blessing. Hence to misunderstand the divinely elected position of Israel in the world is to view the Scripture from the wrong perspective. To look upon the Word of God and His providential workings in the world from the incorrect point of view is to see things in a distorted manner; and to receive the wrong impressions concerning His plan of the ages is to be unable to conform one's life and activity to the perfect will of God and to cooperate with Him fully and intelligently. In view of these momentous facts one can see that it is absolutely imperative for one to understand the scriptural teaching concerning Israel's place in the plan of God.

In many places throughout the Scriptures we see statements which give this plan more or less completely. Among them may be mentioned the one which deals with Israel's future return to God found in Deuteronomy 30:1-10. To this passage we shall now address ourselves. I assume here that the reader will turn to this section of the Word and examine it carefully before he studies this article. This block of scripture properly falls into two natural sections: (1) Israel's three must's (vss. 1,2); (2) Jehovah's seven I-will's (vss. 3-10)...keep reading

Too Many at Once

From CAMERA:

When Zairian President Mobutu Sese Seko spoke to a group of government officials about the problem of corruption in his country in 1976, he didn't come right out and tell them to quit stealing altogether. He just told
them to dial it back. “If you want to steal, steal a little cleverly, in a nice way. If you steal so much as to become rich overnight, you will be caught.”

Somebody is probably offering similar advice to Islamist terrorists in Iraq in light of the murder of more than 50 Christians by Al Qaeda terrorists in Baghdad on Oct. 31. By killing so many Christians at once, they overwhelmed the ability of Western intellectuals and religious leaders to sweep the problem of Islamist violence against Christians under the rug...read more

From Daniel Pipes:

The Camp David II summit and the "Aqsa intifada" that followed have confirmed what everyone had long known: Jerusalem is the knottiest issue facing Arab and Israeli negotiators.

In part, the problem is practical: the Palestinians insist that the capital of Israel serve as the capital of their future state too, something Israelis are loathe to accept. But mostly, the problem is religious: the ancient city has sacred associations for Jews and Muslims alike (and Christians too, of course; but Christians today no longer make an independent political claim to Jerusalem), and both insist on sovereignty over their overlapping sacred areas...The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem

James Carroll’s Analytical Skills Stop at Christendom’s Edge

This is a thoughtful article from CAMERA that I've been meaning to post for a while:

During the months of July, August and September, author James Carroll authored a six-part series for The Boston Globe about the Arab-Israeli conflict as a precursor to soon-to-be published book Jerusalem, Jerusalem: The Ancient City that Ignited the Modern World.

The series titled, “Turning History into Hope,” was not a “sensation” by any stretch of the word, but it was an “event” worthy of note, largely because of Carroll's status as the author of Constantine's Sword: The Church and the Jews (Houghton Mifflin, 2001), an authoritative text on how Christian scripture, liturgical practices and theology contributed to the demonization of Jews in Europe and laid the groundwork for the Holocaust...keep reading

Color Purple Author Smears Israel with False Colors

It's just too easy to tarnish Israel's reputation!

From CAMERA:

Well-known author/poet Alice Walker (1983 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction for The Color Purple), also something of a fringe activist, vilified Israel and Jews in interviews during an April 2010 promotional tour for her new book, Overcoming Speechlessness: A Poet Encounters the Horror in Rwanda, Eastern Congo and Palestine/Israel. The book deals with Walker's 2008-09 travels to Africa and "Palestine/Israel" (mainly the Gaza Strip). Celebrated poet and fiction writer Margaret Atwood, the recipient of the Dan David Prize at Tel Aviv University last May, should stick to the world of fiction. In a Sept. 17 piece in Ha'aretz entitled "Suffering of Palestinian children is something both sides can agree on," Atwood cites a 2009 report by Save the Children U.K. called "Life on the Edge," claiming that document finds that "the rate of malnutrition of the children in Area C [of the West Bank, under full Israeli control] is higher than even that in Gaza, and many kids are not only developmentally stunted, but are dying from related illnesses." But the 70-page document says nothing about child malnutrition or mortality, either caused by illnesses related to malnutrition, developmental stunting, or otherwise. Israel's fault - again

You have to admire the ability of this type of media to be able to come up with inventive ways of blaming Israel and one-sided reporting. This sort of irresponsible journalism feeds the problem and muddies the facts.

The killing of four Israeli settlers, including a pregnant woman in the West Bank on Tuesday evening rattled Israeli and Palestinian leaders on the eve of peace talks in Washington and underscored the disruptive role that the issue of Jewish settlements could play in the already fragile negotiations....New York Times Draws Anti-Israel Lesson From Palestinian Attack

On Saturday (Aug. 28), a sermon by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of the Shas party, in which he dubbed Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas "evil" and called on God to strike "these Ishmaelites and Palestinians with a plague, these evil haters of Israel," sparked intensive media coverage. Major media outlets such as the New York Times, Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, Boston Globe, Daily Telegraph and Irish Times all covered the incident, some dedicating entire stories to it...The Incitement Double Standard: Ovadia Yosef vs PA Leadership

From FrontPageMag:

It’s been nearly two years since Palestinian representatives and Israelis sat across a table from each other to talk about peace. As the latest round of talks got under way yesterday, it’s hard to imagine that the results this time will be much different than any other time. Has anything changed that might lead to a different outcome? Gaza is still being run by Hamas. The “moderates” sitting across the table from Israel – Fatah, Egypt and Jordan – refuse to do to take any action that would delegitimize the group of terrorists who rule Gaza. The much vaunted “two state solution” can hardly work when half of the proposed Palestinian state refuses to recognize Israel’s right to exist, sneers at peace talks involving their enemy and, just to emphasize their contempt, carries out terror attacks two days before those talks commence...The Peace Delusion

As President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Abbas now assemble to try to make peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the 600 pound gorilla in the room will be Richard Goldstone. Although he was not invited to the meetings, his presence will be felt. It will send the following message to the Israeli government: If you end your military occupation of the West Bank, and the Palestinians use their new territory to launch rockets and other attacks against Israel, you will not be able to defend yourself, without Goldstone and the colleagues condemning you for taking actions in self defense...Undermining Peace

And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. (Zec 12:3 KJV)

The Oslo Accords signed on the White House lawn in September 1993 served Yasser Arafat, chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) well. The Accords were the Trojan Horse that enabled Arafat to return to “Palestine” as a hero. Only a few years earlier, he had supported Saddam Hussein’s brutal occupation of Kuwait. But when the U.S.-led coalition pushed Iraqi forces out of Kuwait, Palestinians living in the region paid the price for Arafat and Saddam’s alliance — half–a-million Palestinians were expelled by the Kuwaitis. Arafat’s fortunes had nose-dived. He was in exile in Tunisia, and the dream of expelling the Jews from “Palestine” seemed remote. Then, lo and behold, he was saved by Israel and the U.S...read more

On Fisk and Israel

The Fulfilled Prophecy website recently posted a link to an article by Robert Fisk. Presumably the intent of the post was to draw attention to deeper connections between Solana, the EU and Israel. I would have liked for FP to have commented on some of Fisk’s bias in the article.

Specifically this:

“All in all, it's good to have such a stout ally as Israel on our side, even if its army is a rabble and some of its men war criminals. Come to that, why don't we ask Hizbollah to join Nato as well – just imagine how its guerrilla tactics would benefit our chaps in Helmand. And since Israel's Apache helicopters often kill Lebanese civilians….”

Israel’s killing of Lebanese citizens was not intentional. Hezbollah made it a practice (as do Hamas) to hide behind citizens while firing rockets upon Israel. Fisk would serve the Lebanese citizens better by pointing that out. Unfortunately, throw away statements like these by biased and irresponsible reporters only foster anti-Israelism.

Regarding the Solana, EU and Israel connection – it should be obvious by now that the popular expectations in some circles that the ENP1 treaty had prophetic significance and relevance to Daniel’s 70th week have failed. Solana has retired but even while he had his finger in a number of pies – and may still have - he was rarely able to exert the extraordinary political influence of Rev 6:2.

If the signing of the ENP treaty back in Jan 07 was the commencement of Daniel’s 70th week and the tribulation, we should have seen progressive confirmation of that in relation to the opening of the seals in Revelation 6. Despite all the justifications regarding the number 666, mid-week has come and gone; there is no Temple in Jerusalem and no Abomination of Desolation has occurred. We are not in Daniel’s 70th week yet.

Back to Fisk:

Just who is Mr Fisk?

Fisk consistently denounces Israel and the United States as oppressive exploiters that provoke the enmity of other nations around the world. While he condemned the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as a “hideous crime against humanity,” he immediately called for an “honest discussion” about the motives behind those attacks -- a discussion which he said was lacking in the Western press. For his part, Fisk ascribed the attacks chiefly to legitimate Arab anger over U.S. policies in the Middle East, particularly America’s support for Israel...Discover The Networks

An older article from CAMERA:

Usual fare on cable TV's Discovery Channel — documentaries about inventions, nature, and archeology — gave way recently to an unabashedly anti-Israel series entitled "Beirut to Bosnia" and reported by British journalist Robert Fisk. The three films ostensibly examine "why fundamentalist Muslims feel the West has betrayed them." Discovery host John Palmer explains at the outset of the first hour, devoted to Lebanon, that Muslim animosity is a consequence of America having "supported the Balfour Declaration which led to the creation of the state of Israel out of Palestinian land in 1948." The charge of Jewish usurpation of Arab land is Fisk's incessant theme, reiterated by speakers throughout the series and accompanied by vivid images of Arab suffering...The Anti-Israel Rant of Robert Fisk
