The End of the Special Relationship?

By Jonathan Rosenblum @ http://www.JewishWorldReview.com

For those inclined to see the workings of Divine Providence in human history, the special affinity of the American people for Israel provides a happy example. If Israel could have only one consistent ally in the world, it would surely have picked the world's (still) most powerful nation. Without the United States, Israel would be hard pressed to obtain the weapons needed to defend itself....

Senator Obama's most fervent support has come from the university campuses and cultural elites — where attitudes tend most to resemble those of Western Europeans and where scorn for those who "cling to guns or religion" runs rampant. The campuses also happen to be the redoubts of the greatest hostility to Israel....

I posted this elsewhere

what we should be praying for today

1-that we as individuals will be more sold out, abiding closer in Christ however you want
to put it as this IS what is primarily important

2-so that we as the church corporately will be more effective in making disciples of our
Judea and perhaps even our Samaria and in doing so we may be able to stop the erosion our
our culture and redeem it for a time much as King Josiah did

3-that the election will go however God deems at this time. As a friend said, perhaps
an Obama presidency will be a rather rude wake up call for the church that time is short.
and let's face it, at some point God is going to pour out his wrath on this nation as we
have much to repent of (see #1 and #2 above). I agree with another friend that
regardless of which man there will be wrath but the degrees of it might be vastly
different I think. (he states that he sees natural disasters to continue at increased
levels and nuclear threat worse with one candidate than the other)

4-and for the aftermath of the election however it goes. The immediate potential
problems that I see are
a.legal challenges to nullify election results for states-who then governs if there
are enough legal challenges and perhaps orders to prevent electoral votes of states being
cast. the prophetic implications being that if we are leaderless for any length of time
as a nation we would cease to be of any influence in the world and of no help to Israel
for certain.
b. Riots and great civil unrest if it doesn't go the way the populace wants for
either candidate (keep in mind those white supremacist groups would be very unhappy with
the election of Obama). even civil war. we've seen the pictures of elections that don't
go right overseas could we be looking at something similar here? I might be working over
time. we thought Katrina was bad-can you imagine what mass riots would do to the law
enforcement and health care systems in this country? this also has prophetic
implications. what happens when we are so busy with our internal problems of civil
unrest-we aren't going to be of any help to anyone else. we simply won't have the
resources our economic and military resources will be gone-drained by the aftermath of
caring for those in mass riots, putting down mass riots, trying to rebuild infrastructure
after mass riots etc.
c. if BHO does not win the electoral college will be a thing of the past, since no
schools seem to actually teach civics no one realizes how vital this is to how our
country was intended to work, and the next president in 2012 will be elected by
California, NY and Mass.
