“In the Middle East,” President Obama told the Turkish parliament on Monday, “we share the goal of a lasting peace between Israel and its neighbors. Let me be clear: the United States strongly supports the goal of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security.”
He added: “That is a goal shared by Palestinians (Hamas too?), Israelis, and people of good will around the world. That is a goal that the parties agreed to in the road map and at Annapolis. And that is a goal that I will actively pursue as president.”
His words give rise to a few responses...read more

The Syrian Fool’s Errand
By Bruce Thornton
FrontPageMagazine.com Tuesday, March 10, 2009
True to his campaign promise to restore diplomacy to its rightful place in American foreign policy, Barack Obama is initiating “discussions” with Syria intended to resolve a whole host of divisive issues, including Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the conflict with Israel, and the festering problem of the Palestinian Arabs. Presumably, Syria “wants to engage,” according to Martin S. Indyk, Clinton’s Middle East peace negotiator, though The New York Times story did not tell us why Syria should talk now. Nor are we told what boon we can offer that could change Syria’s behavior, which includes murdering Lebanese politicians, funding and supplying Hamas and Hizbollah, and helping jihadists make their way to Iraq.
The implication of this latest news is that the previous administration, filled with unilateralist, trigger-happy neocon cowboys, worsened the crisis in the Middle East by refusing to talk with countries like Syria. This bit of received wisdom, like most liberal dogma, is misleading at best. For decades, Israel and the United States have talked with Syria, all to no avail. As Bret Stephens documents in the latest Commentary, “when it comes to the Syria track, the U.S. and Israel have walked down this road before, again and again, almost always with disappointing results.” Stephens’ survey of these efforts reveals a stark truth: talks with Syria will fail because the whole premise of these talks, that Syria sincerely wants peace with Israel, is flawed, as the record of Syria’s previous negotiations––filled with escalating demands, calculated snubs and insults of U.S. and Israeli politicians, and arrogant dismissals of generous Israeli offers––confirms...read more

Boiling Point
From Bible Prophecy Today:
By Jim Fletcher
Jewish leader Isi Leibler, writing last week in the Jerusalem Post, had this to say about a global reality we should all be paying attention to:
“The Inter-Parliamentary Coalition for Combating Anti-Semitism is meeting today in London in the wake of the Gaza campaign, which ignited an exponential eruption of global anti-Semitic frenzy unprecedented since the Nazi era.
The intensity of the anti-Jewish rage, frequently accompanied by acts of violence, has engendered fear and anxiety among Diaspora Jews and obliged many to seriously ponder their long-term future.
“On every continent and in virtually every city, enraged demonstrators have railed against Israel and indulged in anti-Semitic calls to "boycott Jews," "gas" them and "dismantle the Nazi Israeli state." The anti-Jewish offensives, usually initiated by Arabs, have been supported by wide spectrums of indigenous citizens.”
Leibler is not a fear-monger, nor is he crying wolf. Some lay this charge, but they did as well in the lead-up to the Holocaust. Unfortunately, Leibler is right to sound the alarm.
Repeatedly in Scripture, we are told that dark spiritual forces will intensify pressure on Israel and the Jews in the last days. Here again is a dramatic fulfillment of prophecy that many can’t see! Anti-semites are the fulfillment of prophecy and they can’t see it. Amazing.
Also a few days ago, it was announced that the U.S. would have representation at the upcoming Durban Conference. This anti-Western, anti-Israel gathering is a clearing-house for haters and has been shunned by the Americans. Until now.
What is this if not an acceleration of fulfilled prophecies that point to a friend-less Israel. Barack Obama is conducting his foreign policy exactly as he said he would, which means appeasement. An alarming byproduct of this — watch for it — is an increasing tendency to throw Israel to the wolves.
Some assume Obama and his foreign policy team are naïve. Don’t assume that they are. One reporter, soon after the election (note: not before!), called Obama “deeply manipulative.” He’s spent time with the candidate on his plane.
A few days ago, Sean Hannity made an interesting comment as he discussed the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” (designed to muzzle conservative radio); he said that people fail to understand that the policymakers in Washington don’t care about the average person. I think he’s correct. Which means that for all their pledges to ensure Israel’s security, Washington insiders and powerbrokers will sell the Jewish state down the river.
As Israel sorts-out its recent election, one can see the manipulation behind the scenes. As Benjamin Netanyahu jostles for position in trying to become Israel’s next prime minister, it is hard not to notice the hatred for him...not only from the Arabs, but from Western diplomats and journalists! Obama will no doubt lean on Netanyahu (who, unlike Obama or Bill Clinton, with whom he dealt a decade ago, is not a coward).
It was noted by syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer that Obama’s overtures to Iran have resulted in the Iranians puffing out their collective chest and demanding certain things of the U.S. in exchange for “normalized relations.” One of those demands is to abandon the “Zionist entity.” We all know who that is. Does this not speak to Jeremiah 30?
Krauthammer also noted that since Iran announced that it has sent a satellite into space, the obvious implication is that they can also target anywhere with ballistic missiles. One can see here the beginnings of classic, high-stakes blackmail that would ultimately leave Israel without allies anywhere.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who narrowly missed a bid to become prime minister, has said that not only would she not sit in a Netanyahu government (unless he agreed to a rotating premiership), but that she advocated giving away at least half of the Land of Israel to a Palestinian state.
All these things are indeed foreboding. Ominous.
And yet when one talks to Israelis in their own country, one gets the sense that more Bible prophecy is being fulfilled, because these people are not going away. They are not going to lay down and die. We have the odd situation of a pagan world that does not believe in the Bible or the God of the Bible coming into direct conflict with Israel as God prepares to supernaturally intervene, as He did in the “days of old.”
Praise the Lord, He is on His throne and in charge. Let the heathen rage and the anti-semites spew their hate.
We are at the boiling point, and the Redeemer of Israel is preparing to take the stage.

Israel Must Resist the Coming Obama-Clinton Onslaught
By Seth Swirsky
Upon taking office, President Obama will push hard for the ridiculous (for Israel) “Saudi Peace Initiative”, which asks for Israel to give up land it won in the 1967 war, in return for peace with the Palestinians and other Arab neighbors yet to make peace with Israel.
Hilary Clinton was chosen to be Secretary of State NOT for how she will deal with France or (fill in the country) but for how to push the Saudi “plan” in order to make a Palestinian State.
But, the Palestinians do not want a state: they want Israel. The election of Bibi Netanyahu would be important because he would say “no” to the Saudi “plan”, which is just another euphemism for diminishing the size of the already minute Israel.
Israel gave back southern Lebanon, and in return, it got back a war (in 2006). Israel “gave back” Gaza and in return, it takes rockets on its cities daily.
Obama’s #1 priority upon taking office will be putting the Saudi plan into play, using the more-trusted Hillary Clinton to sell it. Bibi (again, if elected) MUST NOT be a buyer. The world, for the most part, doesn’t like Jews and that’s what Israel represents. Israel cannot, for the sake of good PR from the world, give away land that soldiers fought and died for in order to make Israel safer. It’s why Bibi will likely win: Israelis sense that Obama, with his worldwide popularity, is going to come knocking soon, asking –maybe demanding — more Israeli “concessions” for peace that Israel must resist.
The Palestinians should be the ones making concessions (taking out of their charter, their desire to end Israel’s existence, would be a great place to start!). President George W. Bush, had it correct when taking a hands off approach to the Arab-Israeli problem, as he realized that Israel doesn’t have a problem with Palestinians, but the other way around. He realized there is no ‘cycle of violence’, just Palestinians bent on killing innocent Israelis.
Watch out Israel: Obama’s coming with Hillary (and Bill) as his cover. Israel has seen that no peace with the Palestinians comes about when they give back swaths of land won in war.
Beware Obama-Clinton and their coming push to accept the Saudi “plan”: it’s a disaster for Israel and Bibi knows it.
